It is free and there is no catch. The consultation exists because a well-informed author is easier to work with, and because a good proportion of the calls end with us recommending something cheaper than the author expected — or telling them to keep revising.
No. There is no script, no discount that expires at midnight, and no follow-up sequence unless you ask for one. If you want to think about it for six months, that is a normal outcome.
That is fine and common. Plenty of authors book a call while still drafting, usually to understand costs and timelines before committing. We can talk usefully about a book in progress — we just cannot assess it properly until it is complete.
Not for the call itself. If you do send it beforehand, the consultant will have read at least the opening chapters, which makes the conversation considerably more specific.
Thirty minutes is the standard slot, and it is usually enough. If your project is complex we will book longer, or arrange a second call rather than rushing.
Visits to our office are by appointment. Most consultations happen by phone or video because our authors are spread across several countries and time zones.
