Interior design succeeds by not being noticed. A reader should move through 300 pages without their eye snagging once.
Getting there involves decisions most people never consciously register. A typeface with a text-sized optical design rather than a display face scaled down. A measure — the line length — inside the range where the eye tracks comfortably, roughly 60 to 75 characters. Leading set to the typeface and the measure rather than a default. Margins that account for the gutter, so text does not disappear into the binding of a thick paperback. Consistent chapter openers. Running heads that tell you where you are. Page numbers that behave correctly around front matter and blank versos.
Then the details that separate typeset from word-processed: no widows or orphans, no more than two consecutive hyphenated line ends, no rivers of white running down a justified column, correct em and en dashes, real small caps rather than shrunken capitals, and proper handling of anything structural — block quotes, epigraphs, lists, tables, footnotes, images with captions.
You receive a print-ready PDF built to your printer's exact specification, with correct bleed and safety margins, embedded fonts and the right colour space. We also supply a clean file for eBook conversion, because a print layout does not translate directly to a reflowable format.
Exactly what lands in your inbox, listed the same way it appears in your written scope.
Having these ready before we start is what keeps the timeline honest.
Production timelines are estimates. Actual schedules vary with manuscript length, revision rounds, author response time and third-party retailer processing.
We agree trim size, paper stock, typeface and the overall feel — literary, commercial, academic, illustrated.
You approve a sample chapter before the whole book is set, so nothing is a surprise at 300 pages.
The book is set, then hand-refined page by page for breaks, widows, orphans and spacing.
Proofs go to the proofreader and to you; corrections are applied and the pages re-checked.
Final PDF built to your printer's specification, plus the clean file for eBook conversion.

It depends on category and page count. Trade paperback fiction sits around 5.5 × 8.5 inches; business and nonfiction often use 6 × 9; children's and illustrated books vary widely. Trim size also affects page count and therefore printing cost, so we work it out with you rather than defaulting it.
Yes. Academic and reference books with heavy apparatus are quoted individually because the work scales with complexity, not word count.
Because they are fundamentally different objects. A print page is fixed; an eBook reflows to any screen and font size the reader chooses. A PDF forced into an eBook store gives a poor reading experience and often gets rejected outright.
Design
An original cover designed around your book and its category — front, spine and back, built to work at thumbnail size and in the hand.

The final safety net on typeset pages — typos, spacing, bad breaks and layout errors, caught before anything goes to print.
Production
A properly built EPUB that reflows cleanly, navigates correctly and passes retailer validation first time.
Production
Print-on-demand setup and offset print run coordination, with a physical proof before anything is committed.
