Business Publishing Packages

A business book is usually a credibility instrument before it is a product. That changes which parts of publishing are worth spending on.

Illustration representing business publishing packages

Most business authors are not trying to earn a living from royalties. They are trying to be taken seriously — by clients, by conference programmers, by boards, by the person deciding which of three consultants to call.

That reframes the whole calculation. Print quality matters more than usual, because the book gets handed to people in person. Hardcover matters, because it survives a conference tote and looks right on a desk. Bulk purchasing matters, because a client will buy 200 copies for their leadership team and you need that to be straightforward. And timing matters enormously, because the book often has to exist by a specific date — a keynote, a launch, a funding round.

Signature is our usual recommendation, primarily for the developmental edit. Business manuscripts written by practitioners tend to have the same structural problem: they are organised around the author's framework rather than the reader's question. Fixing that is the single highest-value change most business books can make.

Laureate suits authors coordinating a book with a speaking programme or a company launch, where the schedule has hard external deadlines and someone needs to own it. One thing we will not do is imply the book will win you business. It gives you an asset and a credential; what you do with it is the actual work.

Where to weight your budget

What matters most for business

1

Reader-first structure

Practitioner manuscripts organise around the author's model. Readers need it organised around their question.

2

Hardcover and print quality

This book gets handed to people. It needs to feel like a considered object.

3

Bulk and special sales

Corporate orders should be simple. We set up fulfilment and pricing for volume purchases.

4

Date-driven scheduling

If the book must exist by a keynote date, that constraint drives the whole production plan.

More on business book publishing

Most business books are not sold to readers. They are handed to people who matter. That changes what the book has to be.
