Biography

Marisol Vega taught kindergarten for nine years and wrote her first picture book because a child in her class was afraid of the dark and nothing on the shelf quite helped. She writes bilingual picture books that take children's worries seriously without solving them too quickly.

She works closely with her illustrator and considers the storyboard stage the most important part of making a book.

“Nobody had explained the storyboard stage to me. I thought illustration meant sending a manuscript and getting pictures back. Sitting down and deciding where every page turn fell was when the book actually became a book.” Sample quote
