Biography

Nadia Brennan spent eleven years as a court reporter before writing fiction, and the habit of watching people under pressure never left her. Her Harbour Line novels follow a small-town detective through cases that are less about who did it than about what a community will agree not to notice.

She published her first novel independently after two years of near-misses with agents, and has written the series on her own terms since. She still keeps her shorthand notebooks.

“The copyedit was the part I resented paying for and the part that changed the book most. I got the manuscript back with about nine hundred tracked changes and a letter explaining the four habits behind most of them. I have not made those four mistakes since.” Sample quote
